To learn best practices for streamlining the opening and operation of a business in the City of Roanoke, new and prospective business owners are reminded to register soon for the Mayor's Business Summit, which will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 23. The Summit will be held from 9 a.m. until noon at the Roanoke CoLab, located at 1327 Grandin Road in the Grandin Village. This event builds on the success of Business Summits the Mayor held in 2017 and early 2018, with the continued goal of introducing new and prospective business owners to best practices for streamlining the opening and operation of a business in the City of Roanoke. Attendees will hear about the pros and cons of owning a business, including guidance for financing options, grants, business resources, business license acquisition, and proper permitting. It will also feature a panel discussion of minority business owners successfully operating businesses in Roanoke. The Business Summit will be sponsored by Freedom First Credit Union and supported by the Roanoke Small Business Development Center and the City of Roanoke’s Department of Economic Development. Registration is required through EVENTBRITE.
