Melrose Clean Sweep Event Planned for July 14

The city’s first Clean Sweep neighborhood cleanup will be held on Saturday, July 14, in the Melrose-Rugby and Melrose-Loudon neighborhoods. The cleanup will begin at 8 a.m. and end at Noon. Residents in those neighborhoods will be asked to place all clutter, unwanted brush, and unlimited bulk items to the curb for collection.

The city is also seeking volunteers to help clean litter and debris from streets, parks, and alleys for this neighborhood cleanup. Volunteers will be invited to a cookout at Eureka Park after the event, between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. Register to volunteer by clicking this link.

This event is sponsored by the following City of Roanoke departments and divisions: Solid Waste, Stormwater, Sustainability, Neighborhood Services, Code Enforcement, Lead-Safe, Police, Fire-EMS, Sheriff's Office, Roanoke Public Libraries, Social Services, and Citizen Engagement. Additional sponsors include Clean Valley Council, Kroger, Carilion Clinic, WSLS 10, and the Western Virginia Water Authority.
