Roanoke, VA – At its meeting today, Roanoke City Council revised the date of record for the Solid Waste Fee billings from July 1, 2017 to Jan. 1, 2018. The initial billing was done based on the property owner of record as of July 1, 2017, the beginning of the current fiscal year. The Solid Waste Fee billing to property owners who sold or transferred property between July 1, 2017 and Dec. 31, 2017, will be rescinded.
The City Treasurer will issue refunds to those property owners who transferred or sold property between July 1, 2017, and Dec. 31, 2017, and have already paid the fee. New Solid Waste Fee bills will be sent to the property owner of record as of Jan. 1, 2018, for properties sold or transferred prior to Jan. 1, 2018. The due date for all Sold Waste Fee payments has been changed to March 30, 2018,
